Virgin Mobile to merge with Helio?

Although it’s hard for any MVNO to function in today’s cellular phone market, we’ll admit that we were surprised to see this flash across our screens.  After Virgin’s Q1 conference call, mocoNews did a bit of investigative work, and found that the two companies were in merger talks.  Both Virgin and Helio use Sprint’s network, allowing for seamless integration and giving SK Telecom a way to keep a presence in the US market.

Though it’s too early to tell what will happen, we will certainly follow what happens to the remaining two US MVNO’s.
