Qwest dumps Sprint, signs with Verizon Wireless

In another blow to Sprint, Qwest and Verizon have formally announced a five-year partnership to sell Verizon’s products and services through the Qwest channels.  While much of the deal remains under wraps, it appears that the company may sell Verizon services directly through its web, telesales, and in-store channels, instead of marketing the service as an MVNO like they did with Sprint.  Additionally, it is believed that Qwest will have the ability to bill the services into a combined Qwest bill, making it much easier for universal billing.

What will happen to the 800,000 current Sprint/Qwest customers remains to be seen.  More information on the deal is expected during Qwest’s conference call on Tuesday.
