PC’s become legal in Cuba

Computers in Cuba

Although we believe that selling the state-approved $780 QTECH PC’s, with their sluggish Intel Celeron processors, 512MB of RAM, Windows XP, and CRT displays should be a crime within itself, the Cuban government seems to think otherwise. Available yesterday, crowds lined up to view the computer at state-run retailer Carlos III; how many purchases were expected remains unknown as of now. At press time, internet was not available in the country due to government restrictions, so we won’t be seeing any Cuban MySpace pages as of yet.

According to analysts, it is projected that black-market computer and internet prices will drop in Cuba as a result of this launch.
