Apple, AT&T to discount 3G iPhone by $200
Latest reports are revealing that U.S. wireless carrier AT&T will discount the Apple 3G iPhone when it is released in June. A recent article over at Fortune states, “When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.”
“AT&T is preparing to subsidize $200 of the cost of a new iPhone, bringing the price down to $199 for customers who sign two-year contracts”, the source says. Apple, hoping to bolster market share, is expected to offer the new iPone in two versions, an 8GB for US$399 and a 16GB for US$499.
